Claudia Winkleman's Strict Rule During Celebrity Traitors Filming

Claudia Winkleman is banned from wearing jewellery while filming Celebrity Traitors, a rule designed to stop jangling noises from giving away which contestants are chosen as Traitors, according to executive producer Sarah Fay.

The BBC spin-off of the hit reality gameshow returns for a second series on Thursday (October 1) on BBC One and iPlayer with an extra-long opening episode, during which host Claudia will make her big decision. The new run follows the success of the first series last year, with 21 new famous faces heading to a castle in the Scottish Highlands for the game of deceit.

Why jewellery is banned

Speaking at an event to launch the new series, The Telegraph reports executive producer Sarah Fay as saying: "Claudia is not allowed jewellery when we do the Traitors pick. We’re very strict on that, in case it jangles."

Claudia added she also has to be mindful about the fabric she wears in case some rogue rustling gives the game away, adding: "Yes, and there's some fabric that I think are noisy, even though I've been told fabric does not make a noise."

Footwear and game details

The TV star admitted she also has to be careful about the footwear she chooses, adding: "I would like to do a more attractive sort of [shoe], but I'm too scared. Sometimes I just want to wear a flat, but I can't. I have to do spiky, noisy, scary shoes. I feel like I’m doing flamenco because I stop a lot."

Set in a Scottish castle, the game follows the celebrity contestants – the majority of whom are known as Faithfuls – as they try to seek out the murderous traitors among them, who kill off players in the middle of the night. Stars compete to win a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

Joining Claudia this year are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.
