Channel 5 has acquired the CBC drama Coroner, starring Serinda Swan, and will release all episodes of the series, which is based on the popular Jenny Cooper novels by Matthew Hall.
Book Adaptation with Emotional Depth
The show follows Dr Jenny Cooper, a recently appointed coroner who investigates unexplained deaths in Toronto. The television version blends investigations with a personal narrative, exploring Jenny's battles with bereavement, anxiety, and raising a child alone.
The debut novel in the Jenny Cooper series appeared in 2009, with eight titles in total. Matthew Hall, sometimes credited as M. R. Hall, is a BAFTA-winning screenwriter and best-selling novelist, known for creating Keeping Faith, the Wales-based drama that ran from 2017 to 2021, starring Eve Myles.

Coroner, which consists of four seasons, first aired on CBC in 2019. Viewers on IMDb praised the show, with one writing: "Wow, they really pulled out the stops on this one. Release Schedule
Weekly season drops will start on Channel 5 from August 11, with all four seasons available from September 1.
