Abbie Chatfield Latest to Join KIIS FM Breakfast as Fill-In Host

Abbie Chatfield has become the latest personality to step in as a fill-in host on KIIS FM Breakfast, following the departure of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson last month. The media personality will host the show on KIIS 1065 and KIIS 1011 from Monday 27 April to Friday 1 May.

Chatfield joins a list of temporary hosts including radio host Mike E and Intern Pete, as the network searches for a permanent replacement. Speculation suggests her week-long stint may serve as an unofficial audition for the role.

“I’m so excited to jump in with the KIIS Breakfast crew for the week,” Chatfield said. “Breakfast radio is fast, fun, and full-on in the best way, so I think I’ll be a perfect fit! I can’t wait to get on air.”

The announcement comes a day after the release of the second radio ratings survey for the year. KIIS FM’s breakfast share eased to 11.7%, down from 12.7% in the previous survey, marking the first ratings since Sandilands and Henderson’s exit. However, the drop was modest, with listeners largely staying put.

Meanwhile, Kyle Sandilands’ first court hearing against his former employer began in the Federal Court today. Sandilands is suing ARN and its subsidiary, the Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation, alleging his contract was terminated without valid grounds and in breach of Australian Consumer Law. The case follows ARN’s decision to terminate his deal after an on-air dispute with co-host Jackie O Henderson.
