Jurors at the District Court of Western Australia cleared Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, known as Yung Filly, of three counts of sexual penetration without consent, an assault charge over an alleged slap, and a strangulation charge. However, they found him guilty of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Verdict after eight-day trial
Barrientos, 30, had pleaded not guilty to all charges. The jury delivered its verdict on Friday morning local time, after deliberations that began on Wednesday afternoon. The two guilty verdicts related to allegations that he bit the victim's neck and breast.
Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three further counts of sexual penetration without consent.
Background and career
Prosecutors had alleged Barrientos assaulted a 20-year-old woman in his Perth hotel room in September 2024 while he was on tour.
The rapper and social media influencer has appeared on several BBC shows and is known for collaborating with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. He has also taken part in Soccer Aid for England and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4, and hosted BBC series Hot Property and Munya And Filly Get Chilly with comedian Munya Chawawa.
Next steps
The case will return to court on August 21, when a sentencing date for the assault convictions will be set. Prosecutors will also decide whether to pursue the three charges on which the jury could not agree.
