Sonia Strong, a contestant on the original BBC series The Weakest Link in 2004, has shared what really happens behind the scenes when the cameras stop rolling.
Filming realities
Strong told OLBG.com that the filming process was surprisingly slow and that host Anne Robinson would disappear from her podium during voting segments, leaving contestants to film without her. She also noted the studio was very cold and breaks were scarce, with only one break during the seven to eight hours of filming.
Anne Robinson's approach
Strong revealed that Robinson did not greet contestants before filming, simply walking past them in the green room. This aligns with Robinson's previous admission that she deliberately avoided meeting contestants to maintain her on-screen persona. Speaking to Metro, Robinson explained that she never met contestants before the show, even on celebrity editions, to build atmosphere. She contrasted this with her role on Countdown, where she greets contestants to show that her Weakest Link character is not her entire personality.
