Wayne Rooney Shows Off Nose Job After Football Injury Surgery

Wayne Rooney has shared the result of his nose job after the Manchester United legend required surgery. The 40-year-old revealed that he needed an operation to fix his nose after breaking it twice during his football career.

Rooney's Surgery and Recovery

Rooney shared the news on his new podcast, Stick to United, with Mark Goldbridge, a week after undergoing the op. He explained his surgery on his new podcast, saying: “It's actually really lucky I've got no black eyes, but I've still got two plastic tubes up my nose, which are coming out very soon.”

The tubes are also affecting his voice, as he added: “I can't wait for them to come out. So, they've cut here (under my nostrils)... So, that's all stitched - a little bit uncomfortable.”

First Broken Nose in 2015 FA Cup Clash

Rooney recalled the first time he broke his nose came while playing for the Red Devils against Preston in an FA Cup clash in 2015. He remembers the game for taking “a bit of a dive”, which won him a penalty in a 3-1 win against the then-League One club.

Rooney broke his nose in the same game that Marouane Fellaini also suffered the same injury, but he made a dig that he didn't miss any games while the big Belgian was absent for the next couple of games.

Second Break in MLS and Surgery Delay

The second time came while playing in the MLS for DC United in the swansong of his career, he said: “And then when I went to DC, I broke my nose again. That was a bad one then.” Rooney suffered the injury after headbutting the back of Colorado Rapids star Niki Jackson's head after he had been pushed by one of his team-mates into the England icon.

“So I needed surgery, but I've never had it,” Rooney revealed. “Put it off. And then this summer I thought get the World Cup out the way and I'll get it done. So had it done last week. Went well, but these tubes were horrible.”

Rooney has now been spotted with his wife Coleen dropping their son Kai off at United's Carrington Training Centre, where the 16-year-old is being put through his pre-season paces as part of the club's under-18 side. Kai is a striker like his famous father and made his Old Trafford bow in the FA Youth Cup last season. As Rooney Snr pulled into Carrington, his new nose could be seen clearly through the windscreen of his £200,000 Overfinch Range Rover, with Coleen sat beside him and Kai in the back.

The tubes inserted during the surgery will keep his nostrils open during the healing process after likely suffering damage to his nasal septum and cartilage during multiple breaks, making it difficult to breathe.
