Wayne Lineker, the 63-year-old club owner, has disclosed that he secretly entered rehab earlier this year and is now over two months sober. In a candid Instagram post on Friday, he shared his experience of giving up alcohol and other substances, describing it as the best decision he ever made.
Lineker, known for his party lifestyle, said he is now enjoying life with a clear mind. “Feeling sober is starting to feel normal to me now. But the difference is I feel fresh every single morning and cannot wait to get out of bed,” he wrote. He also noted that his brain focus has improved dramatically.
The businessman confirmed that his rehab stint was for alcohol addiction and other mind-altering substances. He expressed gratitude for the support from fans, stating, “I am 72 days clean I just want to help anyone I can now and if Wayne can give up ANYONE CAN!!”
Lineker’s sobriety coincides with a reconciliation with his brother, former England striker Gary Lineker, after a 17-year feud. The rift reportedly stemmed from tensions around Gary’s ex-wife Danielle Bux, with Wayne claiming that Danielle “cost me my relationship with my brother.” The brothers reunited at Wayne’s daughter Tia’s wedding in Mallorca last month, with Wayne posting a photo captioned “#reunited #happy #family.”
