Vogue Williams fools co-host with fake labour prank
Vogue Williams fakes labour in radio prank

Vogue Williams convinced her radio co-host Jamie Theakston that she was going into labour in an elaborate on-air prank on Monday. The Irish podcaster, who is expecting her fourth child with Spencer Matthews, set up the trick by hiding a water balloon under her seat during the Heart Breakfast show.

Williams, 40, leaned forward clutching her back, making the balloon burst to give the impression that her waters had broken. Theakston, 55, remained calm as he came to help, asking if her waters had broken.

The Prank Unfolds

“You’re f***ing kidding me,” Theakston said, staying composed as Williams screamed and said she was “really worried”. He reassured her, saying “It’s alright. You’re OK,” while she panicked and stood up again.

Theakston asked where Matthews was and removed Williams’ headphones, telling her to “stay there” while he called for help. Williams leaned into the microphone, struggling not to laugh. “You’re not gonna have the baby right now, lemme tell you,” Theakston said to calm her.

Williams agreed, saying, “I’m not having a baby in Heart studios, no way,” and told Theakston he’d have to “wheel me out on this chair” before he tried to help her to the lift.

The Reveal

Off camera, a producer asked Williams for “one thing” before setting off a confetti cannon and shouting at a bewildered Theakston that they had “got your a**”. Theakston laughed, calling the team “you little f***ers”. “That’s so cruel,” he said. “I was about to go with you in a taxi!”

Williams joked that if anything went wrong with her labour, she’d want Theakston there due to his calm demeanour. Commenters on the Instagram clip echoed her point, with presenter Sian Welby saying she’d call Jamie for any emergency, and Olly Murs agreeing, “Cool as you like.”

One fan wrote: “I think everyone needs a Jamie in their life when they’re having an emergency. He was brilliant, shame it was all a prank.” Alexandra Burke called it “Unreal!!!!! So so good!!!” while GK Barry commented on the sound of the water.

Williams and Matthews have three children – Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, three – with their fourth due in less than three months.
