Victoria Cilliers, who miraculously survived a 4,000ft fall after both her parachutes failed, has rebuilt her life in Wiltshire with her two children and new husband. Her remarkable story is now being discovered by a new audience as Netflix adds the three-part docuseries 'The Fall: Parachute Murder Plot' to its library.
The series, previously available on Channel 4 and Disney+, explores how an experienced skydiver survived a jump on Easter Sunday 2015, only for police to uncover a plot involving affairs, debt, and murderous intent. Her husband, British Army sergeant Emile Cilliers, was convicted of two counts of attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years.
Victoria's Survival and Recovery
During the jump, which was a gift from her husband, both her main and reserve parachutes failed to open. Witnesses believed she had died on impact. However, despite suffering life-threatening injuries including a broken pelvis, Victoria survived. Police investigation revealed evidence that someone had tampered with her parachute, leading to the arrest of her husband.
Victoria has since written a book about her ordeal, titled 'I Survived: I married a charming man. Then he tried to kill me. A true story.', published in 2020. Described as 'powerful and honest', it details her journey through hell and her strength in forging a new life for herself and her children.
Life Today in Wiltshire
According to her publisher's website, Victoria still lives in Wiltshire more than a decade after the incident, with her two children and new husband. She works as a physiotherapist for the Ministry of Defence. In 2024, she remarried fellow parachuting enthusiast Simon Goodman, whom she met at a small gathering in 2018.
Appearing on Loose Women in 2024, Victoria spoke about dating 'tentatively' but said it 'becomes too much when you try and explain the circumstances'. She added: 'But this sort of happened organically, and it's someone that I didn't have to explain my life to.'
Media Coverage and Documentaries
Her story was first documented in a 2018 Channel 4 documentary 'The Parachute Murder Plot', presented by Fiona Bruce. The new Netflix series 'The Fall: Skydive Murder Plot' is now streaming on Netflix, Disney+, and Channel 4, bringing her astonishing survival story to a wider audience.
