Victoria Beckham has responded to daughter Harper's sweet tribute to her brother, Romeo, on his birthday, as the family's rift with eldest son Brooklyn continues. The fashion designer and her husband, Sir David Beckham, said they were "so proud" of their son as he celebrated his 24th birthday on Tuesday, September 1.
Proud parents and siblings share tributes
Former Manchester United and England footballer David, 51, shared several snaps of him with his son, including some from his childhood. He wrote: "Happy Birthday mate, we love you so much and I’m so proud of you for all you are as a person, sweet, kind and just an amazing young man… Love you so so much have the best day ever you deserve it."
Spice Girl Victoria, 52, also posted several pictures and added: "Romeo, you have the biggest smile and an even bigger heart. You are smart, kind and loved by us all so much. We are so proud of the incredible young man you have become. You treat everyone with such respect and kindness. Happy birthday @romeobeckham we love you."
Romeo's younger brother Cruz, 21, posted a childhood photo of them together and wrote: "Happy birthday man I love you xxx," while teenager Harper, the youngest of David and Victoria's four children, posted a gushing tribute to her older sibling.
Harper's heartfelt message
Sharing a picture on her private Instagram Story, she wrote: "Today is all about celebrating you, and I hope you know how loved and appreciated you are. You'll always be one of the biggest role models in my life, and I'll forever look up to you and everything you are."
"I'm so lucky to have you as my brother, and I genuinely don't know what I'd do without you. Thank you for always being someone I can look up to and be proud of. I hope this year brings you so much happiness, love, and everything you've been wishing for, because you truly deserve it all."
Resharing 15-year-old Harper's post from her Instagram page, in which she calls herself an 'entrepreneur' in the bio, a moved Victoria penned in front of her millions of followers: "Harper, this melts my heart [heart emoji] @harperbeckham."
Family rift with Brooklyn
Harper is the youngest child - and only daughter - of the celebrity couple, dubbed 'Posh and Beckhs'. The Beckhams, who started dating in 1997 after meeting at a charity football match, before later marrying in 1999, have four children – sons, Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, as well as Harper.
However, over the past year, they have faced a public falling out with their eldest son, Brooklyn, who in January shared a statement on social media accusing his parents of trying to "control" him and also "ruin his relationship" with his wife, Nicola Peltz. He also alleged that his family had "disrespected" his wife.
In June, the feud intensified, with representatives for Brooklyn publicly accusing his family of orchestrating a media stunt involving his sister. The confrontation unfolded shortly after David was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
