Vernon Kay to move out of family home after Tess Daly split

Vernon Kay is reportedly preparing to move out of the family home he shares with Tess Daly, three months after the couple announced their separation. The radio presenter, 52, has reportedly bought another property close to their home in Buckinghamshire, according to a source.

Couple's careful approach to separation

Vernon and Tess, 57, who married in 2003 and have daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16, announced in May that they had decided to separate. A source said the pair have been navigating the end of their marriage carefully and have not rushed into anything.

The source added that Vernon has now bought a place close to the family home, allowing him to stay near their daughters, which is important to both him and Tess. However, work on the new property is not yet complete, and he will only move out once renovations are finished.

Tess supporting the move

Speaking to The Sun, the insider said: “He’s having renovations done and will move out when the house is ready. Tess is supporting him with the move. It’s going to be very strange for them after living together for over two decades, so they’re both treating the situation with care and respect.”

Since announcing their split, the couple have been seen together publicly and appeared on good terms when taking selfies with fans at the Pub in the Park Festival weeks after the news broke.

Joint statement and history

Shortly before that, the couple released a joint statement on Instagram, which read: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably. This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.

“We remain great friends and more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority. There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments. Tess and Vernon.”

Tess and Vernon met in 2001 while working together on Top of the Pops@Play. In 2024, Vernon described their first meeting on his BBC Radio 2 show, explaining they recreated the video for Britney Spears' “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” with Tess dressed as Geri Halliwell and him as Britney Spears.

The couple's relationship faced challenges in 2010 when Vernon was involved in a sexting scandal with former glamour model Rhian Sugden. At the time, he told Radio 1 listeners he had been “stupid and foolish” and said Tess was “extremely upset” but they were working through it. The Mirror has contacted representatives of Tess and Vernon for comment.
