Undateables star Fats Timbo in tears after split from husband

Comedian and podcaster Fats Timbo broke down in tears as she announced she has split from her husband Alan Laszczak. The star, who found fame when she appeared on Channel 4 series The Undateables, tied the knot with photographer Alan on August 24 last year. But on what was meant to be their first wedding anniversary, the comedian and podcaster took to social media to reveal to her followers that the couple had actually called time on their marriage around four months ago.

Announcement on Instagram

Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she explained: "I never thought a year after getting married, I'd be getting a divorce. Let me not cry on camera... I never thought I'd do this kind of video ever. It's been about four months now since we've been separated, and we have decided we are going to get a divorce."

But Fats insisted that there was no bad blood and she simply wanted to announce their split publicly out of respect for her former husband. She added: "It's very amicable. I don't want to disclose the reason because I respect him."

Reason for public announcement

She continued: "Now that I've got myself together, I know it's not anyone's business, but because our wedding was so public, practically the whole world saw it. Now that we're separated, you know, about to get a divorce, it's like everyone's asking about him, everyone's asking about how marriage life is going, and I'm here trying to focus on healing."

"I never ever pictured this at all. Anyone that's going through something like this, honestly, I'm holding your hand because it's not easy. Me and him spent an incredible six years together, and I'll never forget our experience. One thing I've learned from this is that you could think that you're gonna be in a certain place at a certain time in life."

"But God has completely different plans. Completely different plans for you. Moving forward, I'm gonna discover who the new Fats is. Over the last how many months, my friends and family have been such a big support system to me. These kind of moments really show who's there for you and who's not."

Background and previous comments

The star concluded her video by thanking her fans and followers for the way that they have been there for her both before and, now after, the marriage. She said: "I'm so grateful for them and I'm so grateful for you guys as well. You've been there for the whole journey, from when we got married, from now, to be honest."

Fats was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, and just last year during an appearance on Loose Women she spoke of how they could "understand" each other. Speaking about Alan, who suffers from cerebral palsy, Fats explained: "He's amazing, he's a gentleman. Everything I want in a man. We both have a disability so we understand each other. I love to be on camera, he loves to be behind the camera, so it works."

The Don't Look Down star then told of how the proposal unfolded. She said: "I'm going to tell you what really happened. I saw a TikTok about someone getting proposed to on the last day of holiday. So, I told him: 'It's been four years, no ring, what's going on?' I was in a bit of a mood, I was thinking: 'You're taking me for a ride.'"

"He said: 'Let's go take a walk on the beach'. When we got there, he said: 'You're upset with me just turn around.' I turn around, and he's on one knee."
