Travis Kelce has spoken publicly for the first time about his wedding to Taylor Swift, describing the ceremony at Madison Square Garden as 'crazy' and the 'best night of [his] life'. The Kansas City Chiefs star, 36, and the singer, also 36, married in July in front of 1,000 guests at the iconic New York venue.
A Childhood Dream Realized
In a press conference for his NFL commitments, Kelce admitted the wedding allowed him to 'live out my childhood dream' – not because of the marriage itself, but because of the venue. 'MSG, man. I always told myself I'd go for a playoff game when the Knicks were rocking,' he said. 'My wife went when I was stuck in mini camp so I didn't get my opportunity to go then. It was kind of cool to be able to live out my childhood dream of being at that venue, the mecca of all sports venues … [and] get married there.'
He also thanked the venue's owners for accommodating the private event. 'I thank the owners for allowing us the opportunity to do that knowing we wanted a private event and everything. It was perfect.'
Favorite Part and Post-Wedding Fun
When asked about his favorite part of the day, Kelce joked: 'The AC was cooking. That was the best part.' He added, 'It was a fun offseason, man,' and labeled the day the 'best night of [his] life.'
Days after the wedding, Kelce appeared in an advertisement for Accelerator Active Energy, a zero-sugar energy drink brand. The ad featured the words 'Happily. Ever. After' and a vintage red truck with 'Just Married' printed on it, with energy drink cans hooked to the back. The caption read: 'The love story continues. CONGRATS @killatrav!!!'
Wedding Details and Guests
The wedding was kept under wraps before the ceremony. A source claimed Paul McCartney of The Beatles performed 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' and Stevie Nicks was also said to have performed. Food was reportedly provided by Zero Bond, one of Taylor Swift's favorite New York City restaurants, with guests served Italian and sushi.
BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James was among the guests. On his breakfast show, he told listeners: 'I had the best night. The food was plentiful and delicious.' He joked that while most weddings provide guests with their first drink for free, the couple provided the 'first 10,000 drinks free.'
