Eagle-eyed fans of the Celebrity Traitors believe they have worked out the winner thanks to a “clue” in a newly released teaser.
This autumn, 21 celebrities will face off for the chance to win £100,000 for a charity of their choice, as they try to seek out who amongst them are the murderous traitors. In the first teaser for the hotly anticipated second season of the BBC, host Claudia Winkleman walks through the aisles of a church filled with the latest batch of contestants.
Fans spot Leigh-Anne's absence
Sat in the pews are an array of famous faces taking part in the second season on the hit BBC reality show, including Maya Jama, Bella Ramsay, Romesh Ranganathan, Richard E. Grant and Rob Beckett, to name a few. “Thoughts and prayers”, Winkleman says to the cast before leaving the church “Who doesn’t love a dramatic exit.”
Whilst the trailer shares no scenes from the show, fans believe they have sussed out which of the stars makes it to the end from the 25-second teaser alone. Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock does not appear at all in the trailer, leading some viewers to speculate if this was done intentionally.
Fans divided on Pinnock's fate
“BBC choosing a frame where Leigh-Anne isn’t visible, Leigh-Anne avoiding naming the TV show she did ‘filming for’ in her Patreon videos, refusing to say anything other than ‘it was wild’,” one fan mused. “The hyper-secrecy makes me think she did very well.”
“Oh she's the traitor and she won,” another fan guessed. However, others took the lack of screen-time to be a sign that she did not last long in the show. “I had the opposite impression, unfortunately. They're acting like there was a falling out,” said one user, with others agreeing that she has “not made it far”.
Producer teases surprises
BBC’s Director of Entertainment Ed Havard said that this series of the hit show, which was last year by Alan Carr, has “paranoia off the scale”. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, 27 August, Havard said: “Things happen that you didn't think could happen on Traitors and have never seen before.”
“I came from working on the US version, and it just shows how many surprises this show can deliver. I can't stop thinking about it. The paranoia is off the scale.”
