Tracy Beaker fans fume as Dani Harmer forgets Sid Rooney

Dani Harmer has sparked outrage among Tracy Beaker fans after failing to remember a key character from the hit CBBC show. The actress, who played the fiery Tracy in the noughties series, asked fans to settle a debate she had with former co-star Nisha Nayar while out at a pizza restaurant.

Fan Debate Over Forgotten Care Worker

In a TikTok post that has now received more than two million views, Harmer appeared alongside Nayar, who portrayed social worker Elaine 'The Pain' Boyak on the original show. Harmer explained that Nayar insisted there had been a male care worker character on The Story of Tracy Beaker who was "very tall," but Harmer had no recollection of him.

"Not Mike, not Nathan. I don't believe her," Harmer said. "Now I know my brain isn't very good, but I know you guys will have the answer so who is it? What is his name?" She then turned to Nayar and told her, "I don't think you're going to be proved right."

Fans Identify Sid Rooney

Fans flooded the comments section to confirm that the forgotten character was Sid Rooney, the head carer from series four, played by Vincenzo Pellegrino. One fan joked, "Hate to say Elaine the Pain is correct," while another fumed, "How you could forget Sid? He nearly became your step dad."

A third fan wrote: "Guys, they're not talking about Nathan, Duke or Mike, they're actually talking about Sid. How have most of you forgot about Sid. He was tall, they was talking about someone tall. It wasn't Nathan, it was Sid." Another long-time fan noted: "It is Sid. He was head care worker in season four. Dani probably doesn't remember him because that season Tracy was living with Cam and wasn't in many episodes."

Harmer Admits Memory Lapse

Responding to the comments, Harmer admitted: "I have totally forgotten about Sid I'm afraid. No recollection whatsoever."

The Story of Tracy Beaker, which aired between 2002 and 2005 across five seasons, is available to stream free on BBC iPlayer. The show was followed by spin-offs including Tracy Beaker Returns in 2010, The Dumping Ground in 2013, and My Mum Tracy Beaker in 2021.
