Tommy Fury made the confession on the latest episode of his BBC podcast What the Fury, appearing alongside his dad John. The father-and-son duo were discussing masculinity and navigating modern manhood when the topic of paying for dinner came up.
Asked "Is paying for dinner gentlemanly or old-fashioned?", the 27-year-old boxer replied: "I think it’s both. I don’t think Molly’s ever paid for a dinner in her life with me." He continued: "I think the man should pay, it’s a gentleman thing to do, that’s just how I think."
Dad John agreed, saying: "Same here because every time I’ve been in a woman’s company in my life, I’ve always paid."
Fans divided over Tommy Fury's dating rule
The revelation split listeners. One user fumed: "No from me!" But another listener praised Tommy, writing: "Excellent, couldn’t agree more with John on his ending view of Tommy being a modern man, he’s a credit to you and his mum and the way you have bought him up." They added: "Love the banter you two have."
Tommy and Molly-Mae's life at home
Tommy, 27, and Molly-Mae, also 27, became parents for the second time earlier this year after welcoming baby Midas. The couple are now settling into a busy life with two children, but still make time for romantic dates.
Fans pointed out that Molly-Mae is a well-known businesswoman, influencer and designer with an estimated net worth of around £6 million. Together, the pair have a combined net worth of about £12 million, according to the latest figures. Last year, they were revealed to be the UK's fifth richest couple on TV, based on data available at the time.
