Tom Read Wilson, the charming star of Celebs Go Dating and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, has revealed his desire to start a family, even if he remains single. The 39-year-old television personality, known for his impeccable vocabulary and dapper style, shared his thoughts during an interview promoting his collaboration with Imperial Leather.
Broody and Ready for Fatherhood
Tom admitted that spending time with his nephews has ignited a strong paternal instinct. 'I'm hankering for a child,' he confessed, adding that becoming a father is more important than finding a romantic partner. 'My ambition is to really get my ducks in a row so that I can do that and know that I have the right support system around me.'
Dating Life on Hold
Despite being single, Tom has stepped away from dating apps, preferring organic encounters. 'I believe in meeting people organically. I am slightly eccentric, I march to the beat of my own drum, so you sort of need to meet me to know if you're going to want to date me or not!' He joked that while his friend adores dogs, he is obsessed with babies, making park visits lengthy as he coos at every infant.
Life After the Jungle
Tom remains close with his I'm a Celebrity castmates, including Ruby Wax, whom he visited recently. He also keeps in touch with Aitch, who lives near his sister and nephews in Greater Manchester. Despite the show's popularity, Tom deliberately avoided watching the All Stars series. 'None of us have from last year, we said because our own memories are so strong we didn't feel ready. I don't want anything to eclipse my own experience yet.'
Return to Celebs Go Dating
Tom is back for the new series of Celebs Go Dating, where he works alongside Paul C Brunson. He praised this year's celebrities, including James Haskell, Lucinda Light, Coleen Nolan, and David Potts. 'James Haskell is so naughty—he's very twinkly and delightful. And MAFS star Lucinda Light is wonderful, she's quite a poet.'
Upcoming Projects
Tom will host another series of The Taste Test Restaurant on Channel 5 and perform a one-man show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, titled A to Z, featuring anecdotes from his life for every letter of the alphabet.
Bringing 'Fancy' into Daily Life
Tom's partnership with Imperial Leather highlights a study showing 31% of Brits pretend to be fancier than they are. He shared his own touches of fancy, like a giant cheese plant watered with a repurposed champagne bottle. 'It looks like it's guzzling champagne!'
