Tom Read Wilson, known for his I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! appearance, left Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt visibly flustered on the July 11, 2026 episode. During the BBC show, Wilson made a cheeky comment using a figure of speech called zeugma, which implied he found Tebbutt attractive.
Cheeky Comment Sparks Blush
As Tebbutt prepared a steak and mash dish, Wilson, also recognized for his expansive vocabulary, said: "My favourite trick of speech is called zeugma, where you take a single word and give it two hats. So I might say 'I really fancy beef with horseradish, ooh and the chef.'" Tebbutt burst into laughter, then blushed as Wilson explained: "With one usage, I have given 'fancy' the hat of culinary desire and a physical draw." Tebbutt responded: "Even though I'm sweating like this?" Wilson replied: "Well, you're profuse."
Guests and Viewers React
Joining Tebbutt were chef Donal Skehan, chef Asma Khan, hash brown entrepreneurs James Sharp and Phoebe Boddy, and drinks specialist Helen McGinn. After tasting Tebbutt's dish, Wilson quipped: "If we were married, you'd be a bigamist." Viewers on X (formerly Twitter) celebrated the moment. One wrote: "Watching the wonderful @TomReadWilson on #SaturdayKitchen is a great antidote to all the horrible stuff I've read on X the last day or so. Beautiful and eloquent words instead of the vile. Also enjoying seeing him make Matt Tebbutt blush!" Another added: "@TomReadWilson. You are my Saturday Sunshine." A third posted: "Awwwe I love @TomReadWilson what a joy on @SaturdayKitchen."
Wilson's Literary Career
Wilson has channeled his command of language into writing, publishing books such as On the Tip of My Tongue: The Perfect Word for Every Life Moment and Every Word Tells a Story. Saturday Kitchen airs Saturdays at 10am on BBC One.
