Emmerdale star Adam Thomas shares health update on psoriatic arthritis

Adam Thomas, known for his roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, has provided an update on his battle with psoriatic arthritis, an autoimmune condition he was diagnosed with in 2023. The 37-year-old actor shared a video on Instagram showing himself attempting to self-administer his medication for the first time, which he must inject every two weeks to manage his pain.

In the video, Thomas explained that his immune system attacks his own body, causing significant pain. He noted that symptoms vary, with some days affecting only his fingers and knees, while other days he experiences pain throughout his body, along with swelling and exhaustion that sleep cannot alleviate. He admitted to sometimes 'smiling through the pain' and struggling to get out of bed on bad days.

Thomas received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Carol Vorderman, who also uses the same medication, offered advice, while a paediatric rheumatology nurse praised the video as inspirational for young patients. Others with the condition thanked him for raising awareness about the challenges of living with an invisible illness.

The couple, who have been together for 18 years and married in 2017, share two children. Thomas concluded his post by expressing gratitude for his wife's care and celebrating her as 'Family Member of the Month'.
