The Fortune Viewers Slam Slow Pace After Death Twist

Channel 5 viewers have expressed disappointment with the latest episode of The Fortune, citing slow pacing despite a dramatic death twist. The series, starring Eleanor Tomlinson and Stephen Tompkinson, is set to conclude this week.

Shocking Developments in Episode 3

In Tuesday's broadcast (June 9), the aftermath of Boots' (Stephen Tompkinson) sudden death unfolded. Amanda Blakefield (Eleanor Tomlinson) confessed to her husband that she had hidden the shooting from police, fearing accusation. However, when she returned to Boots' home with her friend Sandy (Danielle Walters), she found the body missing and the house spotless.

The camera revealed Anthony Worrall (Callum Woodhouse) lurking nearby. Later, Anthony learned from his mother that Boots was his biological father, as he had been adopted as a child. Devastated, Anthony fled, and later placed stones in a bag containing Boots' body before sinking it in a lake.

Family Turmoil and Abduction

Amanda faced further shock when her mother's care home reported her missing. Amanda suspected abduction, and the episode ended with her mother speaking to Amanda's husband Jimmy (Matthew Lewis) in a taxi, his hands tied, while the driver—who had previously driven Amanda—listened.

Viewer Complaints

Despite the twists, some viewers found the episode slow. One tweeted: "#TheFortune #Channel5 Why is it so s-l-o-w!" Another wrote: "I really, really wanted to like this ... Waste of a good cast #thefortune channel 5." A third questioned the scheduling: "Can anyone remember Episode 2 of #thefortune? It's been so long since it was on. Why didn't C5 just put this on across four days?"

However, one viewer praised the show: "Episode three of #TheFortune tonight. Should be good."

The series concludes Wednesday June 10 at 9pm on Channel 5.
