The Fortune Ending Explained as Channel 5 Series Replaced
The Fortune has come to an end after four gripping episodes on Channel 5, with its replacement confirmed for next week. Starring Eleanor Tomlinson and Matthew Lewis, the thriller followed Amanda Blakefield as her seemingly perfect life unraveled after inheriting a mysterious fortune.
The Fortune Ending Explained
In the finale, Amanda was concerned about her mother Linda's disappearance from a care home, while also dealing with her husband Jimmy vanishing. Initially fearing the worst, she confronted Sandy about secret meetings with Jimmy, only to learn that Jimmy wanted Sandy to pressure Amanda to keep the money.
Struggling with what to do and warned not to contact the police, Amanda searched for clues in a box of photographs. She received a call from Fiona, who demanded 50% of the money and wanted to cut out Anthony. Amanda tracked down Jimmy's last known location but was threatened by Anthony, who wanted a larger share.
Secrets disrupted Anthony and Fiona's relationship when Fiona found a blood-stained shirt at home, though Anthony offered no explanation. Amanda located her mother in an old fishing hut, where Linda revealed that Barry, a stranger present, was actually Amanda's father, whom she believed dead for decades. Barry had wanted Amanda to keep the money, explaining it was originally his but stolen by Martin. Martin had ordered Boots to kill Barry, but Barry escaped, faking his death. Barry also revealed he had enlisted Jimmy's help, and Jimmy returned, apologizing for the secrecy.
Meeting Anthony and Fiona at their estate, Amanda received a call from their lawyer, who revealed that Anthony was not Martin's son. Confronting them, Amanda disclosed that the Worrall money actually came from her father. Fiona was unaware, but Anthony tried to hide behind lies and denied killing Boots. Barry then walked in, shocking everyone. In despair, Anthony threatened to shoot Fiona and Barry before turning the gun on himself. After Linda's heartbreaking death in the fishing hut, Amanda returned to Sandy's to ask for her job back, revealing she accepted the money but let Fiona keep the house.
