ITV's new crime thriller The Dark brings together a stellar ensemble cast, including stars from Friends, Outlander, and The Last Kingdom. The six-part series debuts on Sunday, July 12, at 9pm on ITV, following Detective Monica Kennedy as she investigates the discovery of a young man's body "eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness," sparking fears of a "terrifying campaign" by a twisted serial killer.
Detective Monica Kennedy – Laura Donnelly
Laura Donnelly, known for playing Jenny Fraser Murray in the first three seasons of Outlander, leads the cast as Detective Monica Kennedy. Balancing motherhood with her career, Kennedy must confront her own demons while hunting the killer. Donnelly's other credits include HBO's The Nevers, Werewolf by Night, Sugar, Say Nothing, and Britannia.
DC Connor Crawford – Mark Rowley
Mark Rowley portrays DC Connor Crawford, Kennedy's new partner, whose open, charming, and talkative nature strains their working relationship. Rowley is recognized for roles such as Rich Manning in ITV's Trigger Point, Finan in The Last Kingdom, and Mick Prentice Jr in Karen Pirie.
Bethany Morgan – Helen Baxendale
Friends fans will recognize Helen Baxendale as Emily Waltham, Ross Geller's second wife. In The Dark, she plays Bethany Morgan, a distraught mother "pushed to her limit after Detective Monica appears on her doorstep once again with a case linked to her missing son." Baxendale's other roles include Rachel Bradley in Cold Feet, Dr Claire Maitland in Cardiac Arrest, and Lorna Thompson in Cuckoo.
Michael Bach – Tunji Kasim
Tunji Kasim plays Michael Bach, a "chronically disorganised children's social worker" who gets involved when one of his teenage clients goes missing. Kasim is known to Bridgerton fans as Duke Adolphus in the spin-off Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. His other credits include The Good Liar, Nearly Famous, Nancy Drew, and Shetland.
PC Carol Stewart – Lois Chimimba
Lois Chimimba appears as PC Carol Stewart, a member of the Scottish police force investigating the case. Chimimba has starred in BBC's Vigil, Netflix's The One, and ITV drama Coldwater.
