Ted Lasso actor Brendan Hunt has delayed his wedding to fiancée Shannon Nelson because the couple are expecting their second child. Hunt, who plays Coach Beard in the Emmy-winning comedy-drama, announced his engagement in June but told US Weekly that planning has been minimal.
“Not very much at all, because we are pregnant again,” Hunt said when asked about wedding preparations. Nelson shared the news on Instagram earlier this month, captioning a photo of her baby bump: “Incubating a couple of things.”
The actor explained that neither he nor Nelson is in a hurry to marry, as both have been married before. “Shannon has decided she basically doesn’t want to have any wedding pictures of her while she’s pregnant,” he said. “We’ve both been married before, so we’re not full of wonder of what’s it going to be like.”
Hunt indicated the wedding is unlikely to take place before the birth of their second child. “We wanted to do it properly, so we’ll take our time. But it probably won’t be until kid No. 2 is here,” he added.
In a separate interview with Digital Spy in April 2023, Hunt hinted at the possibility of a Ted Lasso spin-off following the show’s conclusion after three seasons. “I definitely could see more instalments of the Ted Lasso universe,” he said. “I don’t know that it will, but if it does, whichever character it is about, I hope it’s animated and they’re fighting crime.”
