Taylor Swift Pays Over £120K for NYC Wedding Security

Taylor Swift has reimbursed New York City more than £120,000 for public resources used during her wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on Thursday. The payment covers expenses such as security for the high-profile event held at Madison Square Garden.

Wedding Details and Celebrity Guests

The couple, both 36, married last Friday in a ceremony officiated by actor Adam Sandler. A billboard outside the venue read "JUST&T MARRIED." Approximately 1,000 guests attended, including Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Graham Norton, Ed Sheeran, Hugh Grant, and Ethan Hawke.

More details have emerged since the wedding: Kelce's brother Jason's young daughters served as flower girls, and Swift walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing one of her own songs. Celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg, Gracie Abrams, Millie Bobby Brown, Tom Brady, Tom Hanks, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Phoebe Dynevor were photographed leaving in black cars. Other attendees included Nelly and Ashanti, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, and Benson Boone.

Financial Reimbursement and Clean-Up

At a press conference, Mayor Mamdani stated, "Taylor Swift … has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over 160,000 dollars for that event and for the response to that event." The permit was finalized just days before the event. Clean-up at the arena began Saturday, with crews dismantling the wedding set-up, including monogrammed pieces, bars, chairs, booths, cushions, and decorative trees. A massive tent outside the venue was also removed.

Engagement and Charitable Donations

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August last year via a joint Instagram post that read, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." Their romance began in 2023 after Kelce expressed interest on his podcast, which Swift later called a "wild, romantic gesture." In October 2025, Swift appeared on Graham Norton's BBC talk show, jokingly saying she planned to invite "anyone I've ever talked to" to her wedding. Ahead of the wedding, the couple donated $26 million (£19.4 million) to 20 charities, including nine food banks, an animal cruelty organization, seven educational programs, and three children's hospitals.
