Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone has given fans a rare glimpse into his intense fitness regime, posting a video from the gym of his multi-million pound Florida mansion just weeks before his landmark 80th birthday.
The Action Legend's Inspirational Message
In the clip shared on Sunday, the three-time Oscar nominee showcased his famously tattooed biceps while working out. Stallone, who turns 80 on July 6, accompanied the video with a candid caption about the challenges of ageing. "Every year it gets harder and harder, but that's why you gotta push harder and harder. Blood, sweat and tears," he wrote to his 37.7 million followers.
The star, born Michael Stallone, described his lavish home gym – located within his $35.3 million (£28 million) Palm Beach mansion – as a "sanctuary" or "church". He elaborated on its importance, stating: "You feel better physically, so you have the strength to arrive at your goals feeling confident and ready to face any challenge. You want to keep punching."
Fan and Celebrity Reactions Pour In
The video sparked an outpouring of admiration across social media platforms. On TikTok, user @007pattyp commented with heart-face emojis, marvelling: "You look amazing for 79." Another user, @armyforlife1962, agreed with a fire emoji, writing: "Sly never ages!"
Over on Instagram, the sentiment was equally awestruck. User @mrkyle87 posted a bicep emoji alongside the message: "This man is nearly 80. What an inspiration." Others simply exclaimed at his age, with @motohead928 writing: "Dude is 80! Insane." The post also attracted shout-outs from celebrities including Mario Lopez, Robert Patrick, Kim Fields, and producer Randall Emmett.
Recent Public Appearances and Projects
Stallone was last seen publicly using a cane at the 48th Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC on December 7, where he was one of the esteemed honorees. Professionally, he remains highly active. He is currently reprising his role as Dwight 'The General' Manfredi in the fourth season of the hit Paramount+ series Tulsa King.
His 2013 film Grudge Match with Robert De Niro recently saw a resurgence, reaching the number eight spot in Paramount+'s US streaming top 10. Behind the scenes, Stallone is producing an untitled biopic on Navy SEAL hero Mike Thornton, starring Alan Ritchson, which begins filming in Australia this month for Amazon MGM Studios.
Furthermore, a film about the making of his iconic 1976 movie Rocky, titled I Play Rocky, is in production with Anthony Ippolito portraying a young Stallone. The actor recently emphasised that Rocky is, at its heart, a love story, not merely a sports film.
On the personal front, Stallone shares three daughters – Sophia, 29; Sistine, 27; and Scarlet, 23 – with his third wife, Jennifer Flavin. The couple reconciled in 2022 after a brief estrangement. He also has a 46-year-old son, Seargeoh, from his first marriage; his eldest son, Sage, sadly passed away in 2012 at age 36.
