Susanna Reid is returning to Good Morning Britain on Monday, July 6, alongside Ed Balls after a short break from her presenting duties. The 55-year-old presenter last appeared on the ITV breakfast show on Monday, June 22, covering Sir Keir Starmer's resignation as Labour Party leader.
Why Susanna took a break
After the June 22 broadcast, which ran 30 minutes over schedule, Reid revealed on Instagram that she would be stepping away from presenting while working on "a special project", according to the Mirror. She did not disclose details of the project.
Return announcement on Instagram
On Sunday, July 5, Reid posted a selfie on Instagram confirming her return. She wrote: "BACK TO WORK! Excited to be back @gmb tomorrow with @edballs - we are just discussing our plans to watch the football without crashing out during the programme." She asked followers how they planned to watch England's World Cup clash against Mexico, which kicked off at 1am on Monday morning, and manage work or school afterwards.
Fans reacted enthusiastically. One wrote: "Good to have you back. Thought you had done a Starmer. Especially given the timing of your absence." Another commented: "There's only one Reido." A third said: "Great to have you back, always a bonus when you enjoy your work." One admirer added: "Beautiful look and adorable, Susanna, looking forward to seeing you back on our screens with good news about England's game against Mexico."
