Ellie Taylor has revealed she had to rush her son to hospital after he "struggled to breathe" while the family were on holiday on the Sussex coast. The 42-year-old TV star, recently announced as the new host of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two, is married to CNN host Phil Black. They have a daughter, eight, and a two-year-old son.
Holiday trip takes a turn
Over the weekend, the Ted Lasso actress went on a getaway to the Sussex coast with her family. She took to social media to reveal the trip had gone slightly awry as her youngest's cough worsened. She told fans the little one had "decided to upgrade his mild cough to full blown struggling-to-breathe croup," which meant a trip to Chichester A&E.
She joked: "I've been to A&E five times with this child and it's always when I'm serving make-up-free & knackered hag." Ellie then revealed the pair were "home by midnight and determined to crack on and enjoy a few days on the beach after all the lovely sun we've had."
Another mishap follows
In another turn of events, the little one managed to take a tumble on the way to a restaurant. She wrote: "croupy child seemed a little perkier so we thought we'd try out dinner. YAY. But then obviously he fell over on the gravel on the way and cut his leg. Boo." Alongside a picture of a blood-stained pink T-shirt, Ellie said: "Here is me after being a human plaster for his hurty knee after I carried him the rest of the way."
"He wailed throughout the meal which lasted approximately 12mins. Shortly after this I spilt my drink over my phone and said 'for f**ks sake' louder than is OK for a family restaurant. I'd say the hols was 46% endurance, 29% coughing and 13% saying 'we used to have such a nice life.'" In conclusion, she wrote: "Nothing like being on holiday dreaming of being on holiday. Are you even a mother if you haven't said the phrase "Everyone's getting on my t*ts" at least once by the time the breakfast buffet opens."
New It Takes Two role
Just days ago, it was revealed Ellie would be taking over from Fleur East and Janette Manrara as host of Strictly: It Takes Two. The comedienne originally took part in the 2022 series, during which she and professional dancer Johannes Radebe finished in seventh place. "I'm absolutely over the moon, I feel giddy," she told BBC Radio 2 presenter and new Strictly host Emma Willis on Saturday afternoon. "The energy around Strictly is such a joy and I'm just thrilled to be back. It's a dream come true. I'm just thrilled to be back in the Strictly world and I'm so excited about It Takes Two this year. It's going to be refreshed – it will be really lovely to showcase the camaraderie between celebs."
