Stephanie Davis has vowed she is done with cosmetic surgery after having the breast implants she once described as “ridiculously big” removed. The former Hollyoaks and Coronation Street actress, 33, has spoken candidly about her changing relationship with her appearance as she enters what she describes as a calmer chapter of her life.
Struggles with self-worth
Speaking to Daily Star in collaboration with WhichBingo, Stephanie revealed that she had previously struggled with her self-worth and felt she needed to change her appearance. She said: “Yeah, that was all fine. Again, being younger, and the self-worth thing. I didn't think that I was enough, and I ended up getting these ridiculously big boobs put in. I'm only five foot two, so I nearly fell over. It didn't suit me from the side, it made me look bigger, it just wasn't it. And then I got pregnant and they tripled in size.”
Motherhood and self-acceptance
Stephanie said becoming a mum and going through a wider journey of self-acceptance ultimately made her realise she wanted the implants gone. She admitted the decision became particularly emotional as she prepared to undergo surgery. She explained: “I've been on this full journey of self-acceptance and self-love, and I just wanted them out. But especially when you're a mum, just before you're getting put to sleep, I was going, I'm so vain for doing this. What if I die and I don't wake up, and I've left my children all for this? What was I doing? I was always enough. But obviously I was okay, and I'm glad that they're gone.”
Stephanie now says she has no desire to keep changing herself and has embraced a much more positive outlook. “I'm perfect just the way I am,” she said.
A calmer life
The actress has spent much of the past decade in the public eye, with her personal life often becoming as much of a talking point as her acting career. But after years of highs, lows and headlines, Stephanie says she has finally found peace. She told us: “Life is really good. It feels very calm and peaceful, which is nice for me.”
Motherhood has played a major role in that change. Stephanie stepped away from acting after welcoming her son, admitting she struggled with the idea of leaving him. “I took time off after I had my little boy, and then, to be honest, I just didn't want to leave him.”
Return to acting
Now she is preparing to return to acting and hopes to take on a completely different type of role. “I am making a return to acting,” she revealed. The Liverpool-born star said she would particularly love to work on a local production, adding: “I would love to get my teeth into something local. I think there's something beautiful about the Liverpool dramas.” She also hasn't ruled out a return to Coronation Street, a show she still holds close to her heart. “I absolutely love Coronation Street,” she said.
Stephanie's new outlook has also been shaped by motherhood, faith and learning to stop seeking validation from other people. “I got to a point in my life where I was trying to run the show too much, and I just had to let go. As soon as I let go and let God, everything started falling into place.”
After years of feeling she needed to prove herself, Stephanie now says she is ready to step back into the spotlight, but this time without feeling she has to change who she is. “I’m longing to be back behind the camera, acting and creating some art that people can relate to and enjoy watching.”
