Stacey Solomon was left in disbelief after receiving a thoughtful gift from none other than Sir David Beckham. The television presenter took to social media to share her excitement, revealing that the former footballer had sent her a brand new English shrub rose named after him, created by David Austin Roses.
A Growing Friendship
Last year, Stacey reached out to David for bee-keeping advice after investing in her own bees at Pickle Cottage. Her sister had encouraged her to send a direct message to the football legend, who is known for his beekeeping hobby and even launched a business called Bee Up. Stacey sent a voice note via Instagram, but initially felt disappointed when David did not see her message. Her husband, Joe Swash, jokingly remarked that David should not reply, saying he did not need the competition.
However, David eventually got in touch and offered practical advice. In October, Stacey revealed that he had sent her a parcel containing honey and snacks, along with a handwritten card signed with his DB emblem. She was thrilled to receive his autograph and expressed her gratitude.
The Latest Gift
On Monday, June 8, Stacey shared another Instagram Story video, this time unveiling a rose bush delivered from David. The rose, launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show the previous month, supports The King’s Foundation, where David serves as an ambassador, with £2.50 from each sale donated to the charity.
In the video, Stacey said: "It's a very exciting day because I've just got a delivery from Sir David Beckham!" Reading the accompanying note, she continued: "Dear Stacey, a little something for your garden. Love, David." Overwhelmed, she commented: "I can't even describe to you how nice this man is!"
Joe Swash then appeared in the clip and teased: "Do you know what? The amount of things, the beautiful presents I've got you, I've never seen you this excited!" Stacey retorted: "That's not true!" She added: "Do you know what's in it? This is the David Beckham David Austin rose bush I really wanted!" As he walked away, Joe remarked with a smile: "Well done, David!"
Stacey's Gratitude
Stacey went on to express her appreciation: "I'm so grateful. I love you, David. I was genuinely going to buy one of these because I really wanted it. As soon as I saw that it had come out... I love David Austin Roses and I love David Beckham." She then unveiled the rose bush, admiring its beauty, and said she would decide where to plant it in her garden.
Later, she added: "David, thank you. I'm so grateful. It's made my whole year! I will look after her, I will not let her die. She's going to blossom here! I need to send David something now. I need to return the favour. I need to send David, Victoria, the kids something. Do you reckon they'll like peas? Peas from the garden!"
Stacey later returned to social media to share that David had seen her videos and reposted them on his own Instagram Story, which boasts over 86 million followers.
