Stacey Solomon Responds to Age-Shaming Comment
Stacey Solomon has hit back after being accused of dressing 'like she's trying to be 20 years old' at the age of 36. The Loose Women star took to Instagram on Sunday evening (July 12) to address a direct message criticising her outfit choice over the weekend.
Solomon, who is known for sharing glimpses of her life with her millions of followers, had posted pictures of her outfit, featuring flowy trousers cuffed at the ankles, which some likened to Aladdin vibes. However, one follower sent a message that read: 'No you look like you are trying to be 20 years old. Be graceful.'
Solomon's Empowering Response
In a video response posted to her Instagram Story, Solomon said: 'You know when you read something and you just think "my God!" I'm sorry, what is age-appropriate? I mean, unless I'm buying the sizes for my kids... Anything over children's sizes, there is no age limit.'
She continued: 'When I pick up a top, it doesn't say, "Oh, 35 and under, you can't have this!" What do you mean? I was just minding my own business, feeling really pretty and all the dresses that I picked up for myself.'
Encouraging Fans to Wear What Makes Them Happy
The mother-of-five added: 'If you ever see anything and you think, "Oh I really like that! I'm going to get it for myself," get it! Don't even think about the people out there who are like, "Can't wear that! Oh, it's too young. Oh, it's not age appropriate!" Just don't even think about it!'
She concluded: 'If you like it, if it makes you happy, wear it. There is no age limit. You don't go into a shop... I don't go into the shop looking in the 36+ section. I'm just looking at the things I like and picking them out. Never let anyone tell you you can't wear something. For any reason - size, age, hair colour, whatever! Wear what makes you happy.'
Solomon's comments come after she took a brief break from social media earlier this year, following rumours about her marriage to Joe Swash. She returned to sharing updates in late April.
