Simon Cowell has given fans a rare glimpse of his 11-year-old son Eric, who is rapidly growing up and now nearly matches his father's height. The Britain's Got Talent judge shared photos on Instagram of the pair on a family road trip for the new series of America's Got Talent, with Eric sporting a blue T-shirt and curly dark hair.
Fans were astonished by how mature Eric looked, with one commenting: 'In my head Eric is maybe 3 months old?' Another remarked: 'Omg your mini me', while a third noted: 'He looks like his Daddy.' Former X Factor winner Sam Bailey also commented: 'Eric is the image of you. Wow he's so grown up!'
Simon, who welcomed Eric in February 2014 with partner Lauren Silverman, has previously kept his son out of the public eye but has recently shared more family moments. In a Father's Day interview with Jeff Brazier, Simon described Eric as 'the best thing to ever happen to me' and confessed he was 'obsessed' from the first scan.
However, Simon expressed concerns about Eric growing up in the digital age, particularly regarding phone access. 'I'm very worried about how much kids can see at a certain age,' he said. 'I would be petrified of him having access to anything.'
When asked about Eric potentially pursuing showbiz, Simon said he would be 'absolutely honest' with him. He revealed Eric is a talented drummer but quite shy, often stopping when Simon walks in. 'I say, 'Why are you stopping?' and he says, 'Well, I'm a bit embarrassed' and I say, 'Well don't be, you're really good.'
