Former EastEnders star Shona McGarty has spoken of her joy after returning home from the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here jungle, where she finished in third place. The 34-year-old actress was greeted by loved ones at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday, 10 December, following her flight back from Brisbane.
Sharing a video of the surprise reunion on Instagram, McGarty wrote: 'The best welcome home I could ever imagine, my heart is so full.' The clip was captioned: 'Home isn't a place, it's the people waiting for you.' Fans flooded the post with messages of support, praising her performance in the ITV reality show.
During her exit interview, McGarty described the experience as a 'healing process' for her anxiety, which she said had been 'up and down for as long as I can remember'. She also dismissed rumours of a romance with fellow campmate Aitch, calling them 'rubbish' and describing the rapper as 'like my little brother'.
McGarty, who came third behind runner-up Tom Read Wilson and winner Angry Ginge, said the contestants have formed a WhatsApp group and become 'best friends'. She added: 'We’re all going to keep in touch, and I think that’s just what’s so beautiful about this experience, is that you do make friends for life.'
