Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has told this year's celebrities to study former champion Bill Bailey's moves if they want to win.
Bailey was the surprise package of the 2020 series, eventually lifting the glitterball trophy with dance partner Oti Mabuse. For Ballas, that was the show's biggest shock and most incredible symbol of dedication.
'Who Would Have Thought Bill Bailey Would Have Won?'
Ballas said: "Well, who would have thought Bill Bailey would have won? He came down in his gold trousers week one, and he did his Cha Cha Cha and I turned to Motsi and said, 'oh, I'm not sure'. He went on to win!"
Ballas thinks Bailey should be an inspiration to all of the celebrities this year, especially the male contestants like Graeme Hall and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Why Bailey's Work Ethic Stood Out
Speaking about Bailey, the Welsh star continued: "You know why? He worked harder than anyone.
"He studied his craft. He knew everything about my career. He knew everything about every dance he was doing. He was a musician and he just did the right amount of everything and the audience fell in love with him."
Kelvin Fletcher's Last-Minute Triumph
Ballas also pointed out another former champion who was a major surprise. She added: "Kelvin Fletcher stepping in at the last minute for Jamie Lang.
"He wasn't even supposed to be on the show - he went on to win."
The ballroom expert says just being a great dancer won't win you the show; it's all about connecting to audiences. She added: "At the end of the day, this show doesn't belong to me or anybody else. It belongs to the nation and they get to vote.
"And in the final, they get to pick the winner. And I think that's how it should be."
