Sharon Osbourne has revealed the heartbreaking reason she stayed with Ozzy Osbourne through his most painful affair, which nearly destroyed her. The couple, married for over 40 years, endured one of the most turbulent marriages in showbiz, with Sharon discovering Ozzy's infidelity with celebrity hairdresser Michelle Pugh between 2012 and 2016.
Speaking about the affair, Sharon said it was the most painful thing Ozzy had put her through because he knew the other person. 'He always, always had groupies and I was so used to that. But when he knows the name of the person, where they live and where they work... it is a whole different thing as you are emotionally invested,' she said. The betrayal led Sharon to attempt suicide by taking an overdose, which she later revealed on stage during her UK tour.
Despite the pain, Sharon chose to stay with Ozzy, explaining that her role as his manager was a key factor. 'I'm not just his wife, I'm his manager. When he hit rock bottom I didn't walk away I pulled him through the mud and put him back on stage,' she said. She also dismissed suggestions that she stayed for financial reasons, stating, '$800 net worth but do you really think I stayed for mansions and champagne?'
In 2023, Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and Sharon continued to support him. 'He didn't want to stop so I pushed him forward. Tours, recordings, promo I showed up for all of it. I stayed to hold up the name Ozzy Osbourne until the very end,' she added. Sharon described their relationship as co-dependent, saying, 'A therapist would diagnose him as an addict and me as a nutter but we are totally co-dependent.'
Sharon's tribute to Ozzy came after his death, with the family releasing a statement: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.'
