Kasper Schmeichel hilariously mocked England to two Three Lions icons' faces – and proved Scotland aren't the only ones tired of hearing about 1966.

Thomas Tuchel's team kicked off their World Cup campaign last night with a thrilling 4-2 win over Croatia. Harry Kane twice put them in front in the first half but was cancelled out both times, before Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford sealed the win after the break.

The buildup was – as is customary – littered with throwbacks to the one and only time England won the men's tournament sixty years ago. Tired references to football 'coming home' were also present and former Celtic keeper Schmeichel appeared to have had enough.

Speaking with Peter Crouch and Alex Scott on Fox Sports' coverage, he said: “We’re in the Dallas Cowboys stadium. I liken England a little bit to the Dallas Cowboys – a massive, massive team with so much talent, but they won it once and they’ve never stopped talking about it. Just putting that out there. Maybe today’s the day it changes, I don’t know...”

England face Ghana in their second game on Tuesday, June 23.
