Scarlett Moffatt wedding update after family loss

Scarlett Moffatt has opened up about her wedding plans after postponing her big day due to devastating family news. The former Gogglebox star and her partner, Scott Dobinson, have been engaged since November 2023 and share a young son, Jude, with a second baby boy on the way.

Double family loss

Last month, Scarlett shared the sad news that her grandad had passed away, just days after announcing that her mother-in-law, Janice, had also died. In an Instagram post at the time, she wrote: "My heart is broken for Scott and all of his family at the loss of his mam Janice. You were the best Nanna to Jude, the kindest mother-in-law and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever known. I’m so upset that you won’t get to meet your second grandson, but I know you will be watching over us all."

Wedding postponed

Speaking in a new interview, Scarlett explained how she and Scott changed their wedding plans to focus on Janice's health, who had been battling cancer. She told The Sun: "When she got diagnosed with cancer, we – not cancelled – but postponed the wedding. Because we were like, ‘Don’t worry, you’ll get your strengths back up and be fine’. And it looked as if she was gonna be, and then it just was really, really sudden. She was in hospital to have an operation. She was fine, and then, all of a sudden, we got a call to go in to say goodbye to her."

Plans for the future

Despite the heartbreak, Scarlett says the wedding is back on the cards once their second child arrives. She added: "I think definitely early next year, we’ll have a conversation about what we want to do. We definitely want to get married. Everything’s booked; we’ve booked entertainers and got photographers, videographers… everything’s booked. It’s just finding the date. I think early next year, we’ll chat to the venue and see when they have availability. I’m just so excited to get married, really."
