Scarlet Vas, who appeared in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, is expecting a second child with her stepbrother Tayo Ricci. The couple announced the news on Instagram with an intimate video featuring their first child, a daughter, and a sonogram.
"We couldn't keep this a secret any longer..." read the caption. The video showed the couple kissing as Ricci rubbed Vas' belly.
Relationship Timeline
Vas and Ricci welcomed their first child in December 2024 after marrying in September 2023. Their relationship began when they were teenagers and their parents started dating in Melbourne, Australia. The couple later married in Mykonos, Greece.
Despite criticism, Vas said she finds it easy to block out trolls who consider her relationship "weird."
Blocking Out the Hate
"Honestly, it doesn't affect us, because we have each other," she told News.au. "I don't really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh. We find trolls very entertaining."
"If something's really negative, we might comment back, we find it is quite a good disarming tactic," she added.
Vas said she and Ricci met through mutual friends when they were about 13 years old. "Our families knew each other, and they introduced us, I guess you could say. So, we've known each other for a very long time," she said.
Family Privacy
Although they are "definitely not blood-related," Vas said she and Ricci keep the details of their family connection private out of respect for their parents.
"We didn't set out to become influencers; it was never on our radar or ever something we ever wanted to do," said Vas. "When I finished up on Neighbours, we moved to America, so I could pursue acting, but then COVID hit, which affected the industry, and it was really difficult."
