Sarah Platt's future on Coronation Street hangs in the balance after she confesses to killing Theo Silverton, finally revealing that Gary Windass is innocent. The confession, made to her partner Detective Kit Green, leaves the detective reeling as he realizes the killer has been under his nose all along.
Confession Rocks Kit Green
In episodes airing this week, Sarah admits she murdered Theo by accident earlier this year, a secret she has been struggling to hide. Kit, who was convinced Gary was responsible, is shocked by the truth. The confession comes just as Kit plans to propose, turning a romantic moment into a devastating revelation.
Tina O'Brien, who has played Sarah since 1999, told the Mirror: "I would be very worried for her. She might appear to be a 'soft touch' to hard criminals and I worry she’d get into problems in there, especially if they found out she had a partner who was a police officer."
Will Kit Tamper with Evidence?
Spoilers suggest Kit may tamper with evidence to protect Sarah, potentially framing Gary instead. However, his loyalty to his career could push him to turn her in. The episode, available on ITVX and airing on ITV1 on Monday evening, ends with hints that Sarah's fate may be sealed.
Addressing a possible exit, O'Brien said: "I genuinely didn't worry, at the end of the day this job is incredible, but to be an actor is not necessarily a job for life. So, I just was really excited to be given the honour of being the murderer, and then hopefully, however it plays out, I’ll enjoy Sarah's arc."
Sarah's Future Uncertain
If Sarah goes to prison, it could mark the end of her nearly 40-year stint on the show, but no exit has been confirmed. The soap airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
