Sarah Ferguson is reportedly weighing up offers to tell her version of events surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, a move one royal expert has described as "delusional". The 66-year-old has been approached by producers keen to hear her side of the story, according to reports.
Expert slams potential interview as 'delusional'
Speaking on Talk TV's The Jeremy Kyle Breakfast Show, royal expert Dickie Arbiter said of the possible interview: "Fergie will get a soft ride. It's just a mere fact that she's sitting down with them, pouring her heart out, saying, 'Poor me. Poor me. Yes, I am entitled, but I am still poor me'. It beggars belief that she's actually got the audacity to put herself up."
Arbiter added: "It is a massive story, and she's delusional. She's in cuckoo land. She's been dumped by her charities. She's been dumped by her publishers. They're not going to tear up the various correspondents dumping her to start all over again. They are not going to touch her with a barge pole."
Host warns of 'horror story' for Andrew
Host Jeremy Kyle said: "I've met her on several occasions [and] I do believe that she will never recover, as I don't believe [Andrew] will. Of course, if you are desperate for money, you do a TV interview, you agree to it. I mean, it could end up being for her as Newsnight was for him. A bad, bad decision. But no secret that she's going to come back, which to me, is, again, a massive story, isn't it?"
Kyle added: "That would obviously open up a horror story that is Andrew. I'm not saying that it's gone quiet, but that will reinvigorate the press's approach to that... The only person you can blame is Andrew if you can't blame yourself. And she'll never do that."
Editorial control key for Ferguson
The Sun reported that Ferguson is hoping to take control of the narrative. A source told the publication: "Fergie has been bombarded with requests from all over the world to do sit-down interviews, especially with the big streamers, to tell her side of the story. She is looking at her options. For her, it’s more about retaining editorial control rather than making money."
The insider added: "Sarah has a tight-knit group of friends and is extremely well connected. She would only allow someone she knew well to tell her story."
