Sam Thompson has been crowned winner of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, and has shared an emotional reunion with girlfriend Zara McDermott after returning from the Australian jungle. The Made in Chelsea star beat boxer Tony Bellew and former politician Nigel Farage in Sunday's final, securing 43.35% of the public vote.
Voting figures showed Thompson won by a significant margin, with Bellew receiving 30.87% and Farage 25.78%. In the final head-to-head, Thompson took 56.64% of the vote against Bellew's 43.36%. Viewers saw him cross the bridge following his victory and embrace best friend Pete Wicks.
McDermott, who was unable to travel to Australia because of her commitments on Strictly Come Dancing, greeted Thompson with a bunch of rainbow balloons reading "Welcome Home!" Sharing his joy on Instagram, Thompson wrote: "She brought balloons [laughing emoji] Reunited with the love of my life. What a trip, what a lucky guy I am, spot an awkward Pete."
Fans were delighted by the reunion, with one commenting: "You guys, that must have been the most amazing feeling for you both!" Another wrote: "Glad you two are reunited xx", while a third asked for a video. Wicks also shared photos, captioning them: "They were reunited…I was awkward [balloon emoji]."
After his victory, Thompson said: "I'm really overwhelmed, I didn't even think I was going to be invited onto the show. I'm so grateful, thank you so much. I've dreamt of doing this show for years and years and you made this boy's dream come true." He was crowned by fellow contestant Josie Gibson, who told him: "I'm so proud of you." He later posted: "I'M COMING HOME!!!! I only just got my phone back this morning, and I don't quite know where to begin, but I want to start first of all by saying thank you."
