Strictly Star Saffron Barker Breaks Down in Tears After Split
Saffron Barker in Tears After Split from Boyfriend

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Saffron Barker broke down in tears as she opened up about splitting from her boyfriend, model Josh Miln. The 26-year-old confirmed the end of their two-year relationship shortly after she moved to New York to attend drama school.

Background and Strictly Success

Saffron is best known for her YouTube channel, which she started when she was just 15. She currently has over two million subscribers on the channel where she talks about lifestyle, beauty, fashion and fitness. In 2019 she followed in Joe Sugg's footsteps by becoming the second social media personality to take part in Strictly. She was paired with professional dancer AJ Pritchard, in what proved to be his final season on the BBC dancing competition. Saffron and AJ made it ten weeks into the series before being sent home following a dance-off with TV presenter Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden.

Life After Strictly

Since then, Saffron has appeared on The Greatest Dancer for Sport Relief, The Celebrity Circle, Michael McIntyre's The Wheel and E4's The Real Dirty Dancing, which she won with Lee Ryan. She also paired with former University Challenge contestant and mathematician Bobby Seagull on Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted in 2023. Away from the spotlight, she had been in a relationship with Josh Miln for around two years. They lived in Dubai together early in their relationship and were often seen on each other's social media pages.

Breakup Announcement

Speaking in a YouTube vlog, Saffron revealed that their split arrived shortly after she made the move to New York. "As you guys know, I came to New York. I came here nearly six weeks ago now, I came here for an acting school. When I first came to New York, Josh and I were still together. However, since being here, our relationship has ended." She added, "Obviously we were together for nearly two years but we also pretty much lived with each other for two years. And anyone that has lived with a partner will know when you live with someone it feels like you've been with them a lifetime." Saffron suddenly became emotional, stopping to wipe tears from her eyes. She noted that she's 'cried way too much already'. "I really don't want to cry again. If this relationship and all my relationships have taught me anything it's probably just that I need to really focus on self love and focus on myself and do things that are going to make me happy," she said. The video ended with Saffron thanking her fans for their support and saying she feels 'really loved' by them all, adding that the break-up is 'just one of those things'.

Previous Hopes for Family

Speaking to The Mirror last year, Saffron revealed that she hoped she and Josh would start a family together in the future. She stated, "Hopefully, just a couple more years of focusing on our careers, and then children. I'm very lucky because, as much as my job allows me to work from anywhere, so does his. He's a model, signed to agencies in Dubai and America, which means he can travel everywhere and support me too. It's really nice."
