Sadie King's Emmerdale Return Promises Classic Drama

Emmerdale icon Sadie King is making her highly anticipated return to the ITV soap after 20 years away, and fans can expect classic drama and plenty of twists and turns.

The character, played by Patsy Kensit, is set to reappear in the village, and The Mirror has had a sneak peek at her return scenes. According to a soap source, "Those first scenes are just classic Sadie, and classic soap. It's nothing short of iconic, and fans are going to love it."

Six Months of Action and Chaos

The return is described as an "unmissable plot" that will feel "very old-school soap, in a good way, and it's somewhat nostalgic." The source added: "There's around six months of action and chaos. Expect showdowns, expect the past to be revisited, and expect some epic moments as Sadie comes face-to-face with her former neighbours."

"There's something for everyone, and this is one character that had to come back. It doesn't feel pointless or a gimmick, it feels rightly timed and just what fans and the show needs."

A Secret to Share

Sadie has a reason for returning and a secret to share, but it might lead to more than one revelation. The source hinted: "Stuff has gone on in her 20-year absence, and the show will explore all of that."

Patsy Kensit told The Mirror about her comeback: "We will find out what's happened to her and it's interesting. It's not just a one-note portrayal. Things have happened to her over the last 20 years, and we get older, but I can't say too much. Obviously it's been 20 years. We would hope she's evolved slightly."

Soap Boss Praises Return

Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw also praised the decision to bring Sadie back, saying: "There's that kind of classic, glamorous, soap b***h. You don't get many people like that in soap anymore. So it's been great to have that back. But she doesn't feel old school. She feels current, here and now. And it's been brilliant."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
