Rylan Clark's Mum Linda, 73, Hospitalised After Fracturing Shoulder in Icy Fall
Rylan Clark's mum fractures shoulder in horror ice fall

Linda Clark, the beloved 73-year-old mother of television and radio presenter Rylan Clark, has been hospitalised following a frightening fall on ice outside her home.

A Slippery Accident

Speaking live on her son's BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, Linda revealed the incident occurred as she was taking out the rubbish. She mistook a patch of ice for water, lost her footing, and fell heavily. "I just went flying and I hurt my arm again," she told listeners.

The fall resulted in a fractured shoulder, with Linda describing her arm as "black" from severe bruising and "so sore." Rylan recounted the moment he received the alarming phone call, saying to his mother, "Well that was a lovely phone call I got that morning, you on your way to the hospital." He added, with a touch of dark humour born from previous experience, "But it could've been worse, it could've been your arm and your leg like we've had before."

Recovery and Reassurance

During the broadcast, Rylan urged his mum to "be careful" and rest to avoid aggravating the injury. After playing a song at Linda's request, he thanked the audience for their supportive messages. "So many of you getting in touch, thank you, yeah she is alright by the way," he said. "She's fractured her shoulder, I just can't help her, you know what she's like, rushing around doing stuff. In all fairness though, it was an accident, she just slipped on some ice."

Rylan finished by reassuring fans that Linda is being well looked after during her recovery.

A History of Health Challenges

This accident is the latest in a series of health setbacks for Linda Clark. It comes just months after Rylan revealed she was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in July last year, causing him to miss a Radio 2 show. At the time, he thanked the emergency team, especially a nurse named Tanya, for their care.

In 2023, Linda suffered a serious fall in Marbella that required emergency surgery, followed by a private flight home. The mother-son duo, who have been fan favourites on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox since 2019, were forced to miss the latest series due to Linda's health.

Linda has also long battled Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory condition of the digestive system diagnosed in her 30s. The illness has led to multiple operations and daily medication. In 2018, she contracted life-threatening sepsis. Rylan has spoken openly about how the disease has dictated her life, even affecting his childhood as she sometimes couldn't attend school events.

Despite these ongoing challenges, Rylan has consistently praised his mother's resilience, previously calling her "a trooper" and confirming she was "on the mend" after past hospital stays.
