Rylan Clark has joked he will “cry myself to sleep” after his BBC Radio 2 co-stars gave a less than complimentary reaction to his major haircut transformation. The 37-year-old presenter recently cut his hair short, hiding it under a baseball cap in the studio, and shared the moment on air.
Co-Stars React to Rylan’s New Look
Traffic reporter Sally Boazman was instantly taken aback by the change, saying: “I’m not sure. I love it when it was flowing.” Rylan responded: “Are you not? Thanks Sal. Filled me with confidence. It’s just got to the point where I thought why not? Sally hates it, I can tell by her face.”
Another colleague said she was getting “army vibes” from the haircut, prompting Rylan to joke “Saving Private Rylan,” referencing the Hollywood film. Someone else noted the cut made him look even more like French footballer Olivier Giroud, while another co-star recalled a recent guest comparing Rylan to a Thunderbirds puppet.
Rylan finished the segment by saying: “You know what, I feel really good about myself. I just thought I was going to have a change, shows you shouldn’t really doesn’t it? Sally screwed her face up at me. Let’s meet today’s first contestant before I cry myself to sleep.”
Later, listeners David and Ian messaged: “Hi Rylan, really looking forward to seeing the new haircut,” to which Rylan added: “I totally forgot I’d done it.”
Rylan’s Mum Linda’s Embarrassing Moment
This comes after Rylan’s mum Linda begged him to “stop” as he shared an “embarrassing” moment live on air. The former X Factor contestant often invites his mum on his Saturday show. During one episode, Rylan told a story about Linda’s request for a Chanel bag before a family wedding.
Rylan recalled: “She goes: ‘Are you near a Chanel?’ I said: ‘I’m at the flat, what’s wrong?’ She said: ‘You can’t pop in and pick me up a gold bag?’ I said: ‘Sorry?’ She said: ‘Yeah, like the little one you bought me last year.’ I said: ‘The black one you never use? Do you know how much a Chanel bag costs?’”
