Ryan Thomas and Lucy Mecklenburgh have reportedly postponed their wedding, more than seven years after getting engaged. The couple, who met on Channel 4's Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls in 2017, became engaged in Positano, Italy, but have yet to marry. They have two children together, Roman, six, and Lilah, three, and Ryan also has a daughter, Scarlett, from a previous relationship.
A source told The Sun that Lucy, whose father Paul is wealthy with a property portfolio, is financially cautious and has been advised to protect her interests. The source said: 'Lucy comes from money... she was raised to understand money and be very careful with it.' In contrast, Ryan has admitted to past financial mistakes, including filing for bankruptcy in 2013 due to an unpaid tax bill.
Recent financial filings for Ryan's company, R James Thomas Ltd., showed just £1 in the bank as of January 2025, down from £41,361 the previous year. The drop followed the axing of his ITV show 99 To Beat. Despite this, the source said Lucy is proud of Ryan for recovering from his financial difficulties.
Ryan, 40, previously told The Times about his early financial missteps, including credit card debt as a teenager. He said: 'I had money from a very young age... I did have a credit card growing up and it caused me a few problems.' However, he added that he does not regret his past, calling it 'a real blessing' for the lessons learned.
