Ruth Langsford, 65, has playfully declared she is 'going younger' following her separation from Eamonn Holmes, 66, in 2024. The Loose Women star made the comment during an appearance on Rylan Clark's BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, prompting Clark to jokingly call her a 'cougar'.
The conversation arose after Langsford recounted an awkward childhood crush on a friend's older brother, who she later realised was paid by his parents to take her and other girls to the cinema. When asked about the crush's age, Langsford noted he would now be too old for her, adding: 'I'm going younger!' Clark responded: 'Oh go on, you cougar! There's the headline of the day, Ruth dating a 22-year-old.'
Langsford and Holmes, who co-hosted This Morning for years, announced their separation in 2024 after 14 years of marriage. Holmes has since begun a relationship with counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior. Langsford recently told the Daily Mail's Weekend Magazine that she was left 'devastated and broken' by the unexpected end of her marriage.
During the radio interview, Langsford praised Clark for his support following the split, saying he helped her when she felt like 'a complete mess'. Clark, in turn, expressed enthusiasm for taking Langsford out socially, though she appeared hesitant about a big night out.
