Ruby Wax Says Donald Trump Found Her 'Obnoxious' During 1996 Interview

Comedian Ruby Wax has revealed that Donald Trump did not make a pass at her during a 1996 interview because she is 'too clever'. Speaking at the Hay Festival in Wales, Wax said: 'I'm not his type. I have a brain.'

The interview took place on Trump's private jet, where Wax laughed when he mentioned his desire to run for president. Trump responded by ordering the plane to land, as he found her obnoxious. Wax admitted the feeling was mutual, adding that Trump reminded her of her father, with 'killer eyes'.

Wax, whose parents were Austrian Jews who fled the Nazis in 1938, has spoken openly about the abuse she suffered as a child. She revealed she still prefers to sleep in small rooms where she can see the doorknob, a habit formed from her mother bursting in during her childhood.

The comedian also discussed her struggles with mental health, including a recent hospitalisation for depression. She underwent repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, which she said had a 65% success rate and worked for her. Wax uses mindfulness to monitor her 'internal temperature' and detect depressive episodes.

Despite her challenges, Wax rejected the label of bravery, stating: 'Bravery would be running into the street and saving somebody before they get hit by a car, which I haven't done yet.' She also dismissed the idea that climbing Mount Everest is brave, describing such climbers as 'junkies'.
