The Royal Mint has unveiled a new collectible 50p coin celebrating friendship, featuring Winnie-the-Pooh along with Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger. This coin is the final piece in a three-coin collection commemorating a century of Winnie-the-Pooh, created in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company.
A Tribute to Timeless Friendships
The first coin in the collection honored kindness, while the second celebrated loyalty. Now, the third coin focuses on friendship, capturing the heart of AA Milne's beloved stories. Available for purchase starting Thursday, the coin comes in silver proof color and brilliant uncirculated color editions, with prices beginning at £15.
Generations have cherished the tales of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Lucy Mackenzie, director at The Royal Mint, expressed: "Winnie-the-Pooh has been part of childhood for a hundred years, bringing comfort, warmth, and simple joy to families worldwide. From bedtime stories to beloved screen adaptations, these characters stay with us long after we grow up."
A Lasting Keepsake
Mackenzie added: "Marking the final coin in this special collection with The Walt Disney Company feels incredibly fitting, especially as we celebrate the enduring theme of friendship. There's something timeless about Pooh and his friends—their kindness, humor, and unique perspective on the world. We hope this coin captures a little of that magic and becomes a treasured keepsake."
The coin's design features Winnie-the-Pooh embracing Eeyore, with Piglet and Tigger nearby, symbolizing the bonds of friendship. Collectors and fans alike can acquire this piece to commemorate the centenary of these iconic characters.
