Royal fans split over Meghan's reported acting return

Royal fans have shared their verdicts after reports emerged that Meghan Markle could return to acting, following the news that she and Prince Harry are relocating to the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, is understood to be in early-stage discussions about a possible role in a third series of Guy Ritchie's Netflix show The Gentlemen, according to Deadline. The series, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, has not yet been renewed for a third season.

Mixed reactions on social media

Some fans were unimpressed by the reports. One user wrote on X: "This news that Meghan is returning to acting is to distract from their disastrous time in Hollywood. She didn't want to return to acting initially, as I think Meghan is smart enough to realise she wasn't good at it, but now that things are desperate, she's going to give it the old college try."

Another added: "Please she can't act. I never heard of Meghan until she married Harry." A third commented: "Just watch her as ever ads and you see she IS NOT an actor. She can't pose for a photo, let alone anything else."

A fourth said: "This will be another crash and burn attempt at a rebrand. Meghan is a terrible actress." A sixth wrote: "Excuse me whilst I split my sides laughing. She is quite a rubbish actor."

Support from other fans

Others were excited about the potential move, with one fan writing on Instagram: "Good on Meghan."

The duchess previously played Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits before marrying Prince Harry. She returned to acting for the first time in nearly a decade with a cameo as herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends.

Return to the UK

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK at the end of the month and will live in a non-royal residence outside London. Harry and Meghan have already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools.

Their move comes after the couple took their children to see their grandfather, the King, for the first time in four years at his Highgrove home in July. The couple are not thought to have raised the prospect of a return to the UK at that meeting.
