Sir Rod Stewart has sparked fresh concerns for his health after pulling out of another concert at short notice. The 81-year-old singer cancelled his performance at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati last night due to an "unforeseen medical issue".
Venue confirms postponement
Organisers confirmed that the Maggie May singer was undergoing an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure". A statement from the venue read: "Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart’s performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed."
The statement added: "Rescheduling is currently underway, with additional information to follow on Tuesday. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. Rod is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati."
Second health-related cancellation
This is the second time in as many months that health issues have forced Rod to miss a show. Earlier in the summer, he cancelled another performance after being diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection, which led to laryngitis and left him unable to sing.
Despite his ailments, Rod was spotted a day later at Boston Stadium watching Scotland secure a victory against Haiti in the World Cup 2026. He later explained: "No, I got an awful... I really shouldn't have gone to the Haiti game. You know, I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left. But the truth is, Jim, I wasn't going to let my two sons down."
He added: "I promised them since they were born that we were going to go to a World Cup. And this is the first one that's come about. And it wasn't a good look, I admit, but I'm going to have to just take the stick. So I did it for the boys."
Recent stage incident and other cancellations
Rod also paused a gig earlier this summer to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting on stage. Last week, he cancelled a show at the last minute in Niagara Falls, though that was not health-related. In an Instagram Stories statement, his team said: "Important information about tonight's show. Due to a mechanical fault with the aircraft's landing gear, Rod Stewart is regretfully unable to travel to Niagara Falls and must postpone tonight's performance at Fallsview Casino Resort. Rod is deeply disappointed and apologises to fans for the inconvenience."
Fans have taken to social media to express their support, with one user on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying: "Hope he's ok," alongside a praying hands emoji.
